WHO CAN INSURE MY VEHICLE?

When someone calls me for a quote on their automobile, the first question I ask is “is the vehicle titled in your name?” The reason for this question is because generally the title holder(name on title) is/are the only person or persons that can be listed as the “Named Insured”. Generally the Named Insured are the only ones that can make a change or cancel the policy. The way and auto insurance policy is set up matters, because of legalities, claims, and filings of proof of insurance forms must be correctly file my title owner. If you drive someone else’s vehicle, the easy fix is to have the owner take out the policy, and add you on as a driver. Most companies make exceptions for people that live together. If  two people live together and have their own vehicles in their own names, most insurance companies will allow you to be on the same policy, and that also qualifies you for a multiple car discount. As with most things, there are so many different situations, this is just a general rule.
